I chose to distort the spectral bands in order to move away from their conventional scientific representation. The colours become free and flowing forms, as though they possessed a texture and movement of their own.
After three years of working on white spruce reflectance with Ian Major, these spectral bands gradually came to inhabit my imagination. Through constant observation, they ceased to be simple measurements and became forms in motion. I even dreamed about their transformations, as if they were coming to life. With this final illustration of the conference, I wanted to share a glimpse of my own universe and invite viewers to move beyond the concrete, imagining and reflecting differently on the world around us.
